BALI: An Island with a Unique Personality

Culture, adventure & beaches…..3 words to describe our trip to Bali!  Our stay was for 2 weeks in August.  Blue skies & 80 degrees every day.

We started out in Kuta and stayed at the Grand Kuta Inn.  Nice hotel, centrally located, yummy brunch buffet.  Kuta wasn’t our style.  Filled with spring breakers, nightclubs & souvenir shops.  But….killer sunsets!

On day 3 we hired a driver for $60.  He took us from Kuta to our next stop, Ubud.  On the way we drove through rice fields, checked out beaches, temples & a coffee plantation.   We highly recommend hiring a driver, tell him your interests and let them take you around.  Hit up our amazing driver, Blacky.

We were in Ubud for 8 days.   We stayed in a luxurious Airbnb a street behind the main town with a private pool for $90 a night.  Here is where we experienced the ultimate culture of Bali and seeked out adventures everyday.  A few of our favorite things to do in Ubud:

Stop #3 was Gili Trawangan, AKA Gili T.  Two nights here was good for us. This is a divers paradise & home of the Datu Swing at the Hotel Ombak Sunset. Hands down the most epic backdrop for a sunset!  We had fun taking the horse carts around the island, taking a cooking class & snorkeling.

Our final stay was in Seminyak to walk on the beach and lounge in the pool  We stayed at the TS Suites which was a very nice modern hotel right in town.  We found our way to Potato Head Beach Club.  We had a fun day at this trendy hot spot for craft drinks on the beach & healthy food.

Bali will always remain one of our favorite destinations because of the blend of culture, adventure & white sand beaches.  Looking forward to round 2!
